Film & music

A brand story, assembled shot by shot.

The decisions between a brief and a finished film.

Frame from the existing portfolio film The Line of Light. The workflow below describes a reusable production approach; it does not imply a single client commissioned every service on this site.

A company website, a short film and a theme track can express the same idea in different ways. The connection is the brief: who the story is for, what they should understand and what the finished work needs to make them feel.

The workflow

  1. Brief: Choose the audience and central idea.
  2. Sequence: Give each shot a purpose.
  3. Make: Generate and select usable material.
  4. Finish: Edit, voice, mix and caption.

Write what each shot needs to do

An illustrative sequence could move from a familiar place, to a problem, to the working solution and finally to a clear brand ending. Those are communication jobs rather than prompts. A shot list records the action, framing, duration and transition so that each generation can be judged against a purpose.

Review continuity before detail

A compelling isolated generation can still fail in the edit. Adjacent shots need compatible light, direction, scale and pacing. Logos, precise claims and end-card typography are better handled as controlled editing elements. Discard a beautiful shot when it breaks the story; do not extend the story merely to include it.

Let sound shape the edit

Narration carries meaning, effects ground the action and music sets pace. These layers need room for one another. The existing portfolio film has a 70-second web version with captions, and the site retains its full player. The listening experiment in the next note isolates the effect of music on the same moving image.

Deliver for the actual placement

A website player, a vertical social cut and a presentation screen impose different framing and legibility needs. Establish the required versions before finishing, then review each export with sound and captions. Source rights and approval of any business claim belong to that delivery, not to an assumption that generated content is automatically cleared.

Judge generated shots as parts of an edit, not as a collection of impressive images.

Scope & status

The film is an existing portfolio work. The general workflow is not a fabricated client production diary or a claim of commercial campaign performance.
